the verb 'be' is different from the other verbs in this tense. let's look at 'be' first:

and finally let's talk about the question form of the present simple with 'be'. firstly, here's the 'yes / no' question form: yes / no questions am i ? are you ? is he ? is she ? is it ? are we ? are they ? if you'd like to make a 'wh' question, you just put the question word at the front: wh questions where am i? ...... what are you? ...... why is he? ...... who is she? ...... when are we ? ...... why ‘death to america’?

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِیم why ‘death to america’? there's a method to trump's madness, some iranians believe - while others see little actual methodology involved in his decision-making process. before the age of trump, the conver ion in tehran about relations with the west has almost always involved debate on two key questions: u.s. trustworthiness and eu significance. the longstanding and prevailing view has been that the united states is politically dishonest and the european union is inconsequential. during the 2013 election paign of president h an rouhani, this essment of the u.s. was publicly challenged while the consensus about the europeans remained unchanged. substantive results president rouhani believed that the european union did not have the capacity, or at least the will, to act as a global player. after all, he spent a considerable amount of time leading nuclear negotiations with germany, france, and the united kingdom and concluded that these three countries were ineffectual and that iran needed to negotiate with the united states for substantive results. after lengthy deliberations in tehran, where advocates of direct negotiations insisted that the u.s. had decided to change policy and accept iran's full legal right to a peaceful nuclear program, direct u.s.-iran talks were scheduled. despite deep skepticism about u.s. reliability and intentions, the iranians decided to put their essment of the americans to the test. before the 2013 iranian presidential election, they accepted a u.s. proposal for secret and direct negotiations in oman. further proof that the stars were aligned was that iran's former amb ador to the united nations, dr javad zarif, a veteran diplomat with substantial experience dealing with u.s. politicians, think tanks and media, was to lead these negotiations after president rouhani's inauguration. in order to open a new chapter in iran-u.s. relations, rouhani and his political backers were willing to make significant concessions to close a nuclear deal. the individual in this p who was probably the most cautious about conceding too much was the foreign minister himself. meanwhile, those who p ionately opposed the deal warned about past experiences, relentlessly reminding the government and the public of the u.s. history of deceptiveness. after all, they had decades of experience with u.s. "promises" since the 1981 algiers accords in which the u.s. committed itself to no longer intervene politically or militarily in the internal affairs of iran. american aggressions almost from the onset, the americans repeatedly and flagrantly violated the agreement - through "crippling sanctions", funding terrorist organizations, downing an iranian civilian airliner, destroying iranian oil facilities, aiding saddam hussein in his use of chemical munitions and providing him with political cover during his devastating eight-year war with iran. still, the iranians persisted in extending opportunities for goodwill. after the iran-iraq war ended, for instance, iran gave a major oilfield to the u.s. conoco oil company to develop. despite the u.s. government being kept abreast of developments during four years of iranian negotiations with the energy company, washington blocked the deal immediately after an agreement was reached. in the aftermath of terror attacks on september 11, iran negotiated and cooperated with the united states over afghanistan, only to be labeled a part of an "axis of evil." under obama, the united states imposed "crippling sanctions," punishing ordinary iranians and killing thousands of people who were unable to obtain live-saving pharmaceuticals until iran was able to find ways to byp the sanctions. today, due to years of experience and the very recent global shift in balance of power, iran is much better prepared and positioned to deal with sanctions it armed iran's adversaries to the teeth, unleashed armies of takfiri militants inside iran's geog hical "strategic depth," and deployed the world's most potent weapons systems on iran's borders. those aggressions are okay, but trump has a problem with "death to america" slogans? is the widespread desire of ordinary iranians to end u.s. arrogance, duplicity and he ony that difficult for the donald to grasp? despite his skepticism about u.s. sincerity, ayatollah khamenei gave the go-ahead for president rouhani to pursue nuclear negotiations, stating publicly that if the united states demonstrates good will other issues could subsequently be discussed. as expected, the opposite happened. while the iranian side angered its domestic critics by exercising significant flexibility, the u.s. administration began violating the spirit and letter of the agreement almost immediately after it was announced. an ugly visa restriction law and the iran sanctions act were p ed under obama, more individuals and companies were sanctioned, but most importantly, behind closed doors, the u.s. was warning banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and others not to do business with iran - in clear violation of articles 26 and 29 of the agreement. the iranians, meanwhile, not only complied with every expectation of the agreement, in certain instances they beat the clock in delivering their commitments. tangible results under trump, the collapse of the jcpoa gained pace and reached a stage where most iranians believe it to be dead. over almost three years, they have seen few tangible results from halting their peaceful nuclear program and meeting every one of their obligations. iranians believe that as the u.s. exits the agreement, the u.s. government will be seen by the international community as irresponsible, unreliable and aggressive. in contrast, by delaying its own exit for a few weeks to explore eu spine-growth capabilities, iran will be vindicated further. as they were vindicated when incoming u.s. secretary of state mike pompeo admitted to the senate foreign relations committee that iran was not moving towards building a nuclear weapon even before the nuclear deal - unwittingly destroying a 15-year-old dishonest u.s. narrative. france's emmanuel macron and germany's angela merkel will also be viewed as damaged goods for persistently attempting to appease trump and receiving nothing whatsoever in return. the eu is increasingly seen as ineffectual if not irrelevant, thus creating a greater incentive for iran to pivot to china and russia, both economically and politically. ironically, this comes as russia and china are facing similar hostility and pressure, and as a result, have reached similar conclusions. today, due to years of experience and the very recent global shift in balance of power, iran is much better prepared and positioned to deal with sanctions. unlike a decade ago, it has powerful regional allies and its relationships with rising non-western powers have evolved significantly. if western countries shut their doors, there are other doors opening to iran and the ultimate biggest loser in this process will be the u.s., a weak and submissive europe, and their erratic regional client regimes. the choice is theirs to make. by: seyed mohammad marandi professor of english literature and orientalism

پیام نوروزی معظم انقلاب ی به زبان انگلیسی the full text of the leader's nowruz message in the name of allah, the beneficent, the merciful o’ conqueror of hearts and sight o’ planner of night and day o’ transformer of power and circumstances transform our condition to the best of conditions! dear god, give us your guidance, such guidance that you provide for your best-guided servants and feed us with the diligence of your diligent servants i would like to congratulate all of our dear compatriots, in every part of the country, the planet, and other nations that celebrate nowruz. in particular, i would like to congratulate the honorable families of martyrs, the dear disabled war veterans, and their families. i, especially, wish to congratulate the young, teenaged individuals of iran who engender hope and pioneer the national movement of the country. i hope they have a joyous and sweet nowruz and a year full of achievements and blessings. this year, the spring of nature has coincided with the spring of spirituality. in other words, farvardin, ordibehesht, and khordad (the three persian months marking spring) have coincided with rajab, sha’ban, and ramadan. i hope that this year, we will have both natural and spiritual growth for our country—god willing. this hope is being nurtured in our hearts that, by allah’s favor, worldly and otherworldly saplings will prove to be a provision for this nation and country in the future. i wish to send my greetings to the imam of time (may our souls be sacrificed for his sake). also, i commemorate and send my greetings to the immaculate soul of our magnanimous imam [khomeini]. i want to briefly discuss the years of 1396 and 1397 (2017-2018). like all years, the year 1396 was a mixture of peaks and troughs, sweet and bitter events, just like other stages of our lives. these were the sweet events of the year 1396: the emergence of the people’s greatness and power and the national presence from the beginning to the end of the year. at the beginning of the year, we witnessed the very magnificent and dazzling presence of the people in presidential, city, and village council elections. more than 40 million people participated in the elections, that turnout was very impressive and meaningful. after that, we witnessed the quds day rally during the auspicious month of ramadan, and at the end of the year we had the 9th of dey rally (december 30), and, most importantly, there was the spectacular 22nd of bahman (february 11) rally. of course, on the 9th of dey, because of the commotion that broke out – i will refer to this later – the people staged voluntary and continuous rallies, in different cities of the country, all of which showed the presence of the great, insightful, sharp and prepared people of iran, in all the areas that their presence is necessary. another important and sweet achievement, in the past year, was that the islamic republic managed to turn regional threats into great opportunities. the purpose of those threats–at least, one of the purposes–was to deliver a blow to the islamic republic; however, not only did those threats fail to harm the country, they be e opportunities. those who are aware of international issues understand this perfectly. another positive aspect was the effort made in the direction of reviving and utilizing the slogan of the year: national production and employment under the category of the economy of resistance [economy of resistance: production and employment]. great tasks were carried out in the fields of employment and national production; however, there are many tasks left undone which should be taken care of. the goal of the slogan was implemented to some extent, but it should continue to perfection so, by allah’s favor, the slogan's concept can become a reality. we had some bitter events in the year 1396 as well. the earthquake incident, floods, an airplane crash and a ship collision incident in which some of our dear ones lost their lives. they were bitter events for us. additionally, there was drought, in some areas of the country, which is still an ongoing issue. i hope that divine grace will make up for it in the spring. moreover, the livelihood problems of some social cl es have continued from the past. there should be a great effort–everyone should make an effort [so that these problems are solved]. i will refer to this matter, later on, with the hope that these problems will be eliminated, god willing. during the final months of the year, certain disturbances were staged according to plans of the iranian nation's enemies. however, [in a move against their plans] the iranian people entered the arena voluntarily. even individuals who were supposedly instigators of such disturbances, triggered by the enemies, entered the arena and stood up against the rioters. this was an incident wherein the greatness of the iranian nation be e clear on their stance. as for the year 1397–the year that begins at this moment–what is important is that everyone should work hard. the maxims that i choose for different years, i usually address officials. this year, the m es of the people–including government officials–are addressed. as an introduction, i wish to say that the issues of the economy, culture, and various other issues are important; but, this year, our main concern is the issue of the economy and the problems surrounding the people’s livelihood. everyone should endeavor, everyone should work hard, and the pivotal point is national production. if everyone pursues and follows up on the national production, according to the basis of an explanation that i will provide in the speech [supreme leader’s speech at imam ridha shrine], then many economic problems and many problems of the people, regarding their livelihood–the issue of employment, investment, and other such issues–will be resolved, and social detriments will decrease to a large extent. the pivotal point is national production. if national production is accelerated, many problems will be resolved. i have chosen this as the center of this year’s slogan. this year’s slogan is “support for iranian products”: “the year of support for iranian products.” this is not only related to officials, all people from various social backgrounds can help in this area, and they can enter the arena in the real sense of the word. of course, there are five, six dimensions for this support. by allah’s favor, i will expand on these dimensions in my speech. god willing, i will discuss the things that people from various social backgrounds and the various officials of the country can do in this regard. i hope that allah the exalted will help both officials and the people so that they can carry out their duties in the best way possible, and they can act on this year’s slogan – the slogan of “support for iranian products” – in the true sense of the word. greetings be upon you and allah’s mercy and blessings

توانست تهدیدهای منطقه ای -که هدف آن تهدیدها، لااقل یکی از اه آن تهدیدها ضربه ی به بود- را تبدیل کند به فرصت. however, not only did those threats fail to harm the country, they be e opportunities. نه فقط تهدیدها آسیبی به کشور نرساند بلکه تبدیل شد به فرصت؛ those who are aware of international issues understand this perfectly. و انی که آگاه از مسائل بین المللی هستند، این معنا را بدرستی درک می کنند. another positive aspect was the effort made in the direction of reviving and utilizing the slogan of the year: یک نقطه ی مثبت دیگر تلاشهایی بود که در جهت زنده و به کار بستن شعار سال national production and employment under the category of the economy of resistance [economy of resistance: production and employment]. -یعنی تولید ملّی و اشتغال در ذیل عنوان اقتصاد مقاومتی- انجام گرفت. great tasks were carried out in the fields of employment and national production; کارهای خوبی برای مسئله ی اشتغال و تولید ملّی شد however, there are many tasks left undone which should be taken care of. the goal of the slogan was implemented to some extent, but it should continue to perfection so, by allah’s favor, the slogan's concept can become a reality. ، البتّه کارهای زیاد دیگری باقی مانده است که باید بشود. و این شعار تا حدودی عملی شد در کشور، لکن به طور کامل بایستی کار ادامه پیدا کند تا ان شاءالله این شعار عملی بشود. we had some bitter events in the year 1396 as well. تلخی هایی هم در سال ۹۶ داشتیم؛ the earthquake incident, floods, an airplane crash and a ship collision incident in which some of our dear ones lost their lives. حوادث ز له، سیل، هواپیما، کشتی، که برخی از عزیزان ما جان باختند در این حوادث they were bitter events for us. و حوادث تلخی بود برای ما. additionally, there was drought, in some areas of the country, علاوه بر اینها خش الی در برخی از مناطق کشور بود which is still an ongoing issue. که همچنان ادامه دارد i hope that divine grace will make up for it in the spring. و امیدواریم فضل الهی در بهار آن را جبران کند. moreover, the livelihood problems of some social cl es have continued from the past. و برخی از مشکلات معیشتیِ قشرها از گذشته همچنان ادامه پیدا کرد there should be a great effort–everyone should make an effort [so that these problems are solved]. که بایستی تلاش بشود و همه تلاش کنند i will refer to this matter, later on, with the hope that these problems will be eliminated, god willing. و من یک اشاره ای خواهم کرد که ان شاءالله این مشکلات برطرف بشود. during the final months of the year, البتّه در ماه های آ سال، certain disturbances were staged according to plans of the iranian nation's enemies. چه ی اصرار بر ترویج زبان انگلیسی دارد؟

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِیمِچه ی اصرار بر ترویج زبان انگلیسی دارد؟ معظم انقلاب در دیدار فرهنگیان سراسر کشور فرمودند: زبان علم فقط انگلیسی نیست. اصرار بر ترویج انحصاری انگلیسی ناسالم است. زبان های دیگر مثل اسپانیولی، فرانسه، آلمانی و کشورهای شرقی هم زبان علمند کشورهای دیگر جلوی نفوذ زبان بیگانه را می گیرند. نمی گویم از فردا آموزش انگلیسی را تعطیل کنیم، اما بدانیم چه می کنیم. معظم انقلاب ی با اشاره به ایجاد انواع موانع و سختی ها برای ترویج زبان فارسی در برخی از کشورهای غربی، فرمودند: در شرایطی که آنها اجازه ترویج زبان فارسی را نمی دهند، ما زبان و فرهنگ آنها را ترویج می کنیم، آیا این کار واقعاً عقلانی است؟چه ی اصرار بر ترویج زبان انگلیسی دارد؟اساساً نمرات دانش آموزان در درس زبان انگلیسی بطور میانگین و در ح کلی، نمرات ضعیفی است. و حتی بسیاری از دانش آموزان دارای نمرات بالا، از بکار بردن کلمات انگلیسی در محاوره و گفتگو های روزمره عاجزند. حال باید این موضوع مطرح شود که آیا برنامه های صدا و سیمای نظام ی اصرار بر ترویج انحصاری زبان انگلیسی دارد یا مدارس وآموزش و پرورش.در یک نگاه کلی و عادلانه مشاهده می شود که:برنامه های آشپزی - برنامه های ورزشی به ویژه برنامه های پر طرفدار فوتبالی - برنامه های علمی اجتماعی و برنامه های خبری، کلمات و لغات انگلیسی را آنقدر کاربردی کرده اند که اصل لغت وکلمه شیرین فارسی به فراموشی س شده است. و این در حالی است که همین کلمات برای اطلاع "فقط معلمین" جایگزین شده و در انتهای کتاب فهرست گردیده است." آقای فردوسی پور و همکارانش" با داشتن جایگاهی فراگیر در سطح کشور و داشتن سمتی و وجهه ای پر پشتیبان و آقای آشپز با کلمات" slice کنیمش" و .... که سازمان صدا و سیما به آنها اهدا فرموده اند، بیشترین کلمات انگلیسی از جمله " هتریک، چیپ ، .... " را به نسل پیر و جوان - باسواد و بیسواد و به خصوص گروه نوجوان آموزش می دهند و بهترین معلمین و مروجین زبان انگلیسی هستند !!!سخنان معظم انفلاب زیباست که می فرمایند: 1- نمی گویم از فردا آموزش انگلیسی را تعطیل کنیم، اما بدانیم چه می کنیم.2- ما زبان و فرهنگ آنها را ترویج می کنیم، آیا این کار واقعاً عقلانی است؟

ماجرای قرآنی چهار مرغ ابراهیممولوی - مثنوی معنویسر ببر این چار مرغ زنده راسر مدی کن خلق ناپاینده رابط و طاوسست و زاغست و وساین مثال چار خلق اندر نفوسبط حرصست و وس آن ستجاه چون طاوس و زاغ امنیتستمنیتش آن که بود اومیدسازطامع ت د یا عمر درازبط حرص آمد که نولش در زمیندر تر و در خشک می جوید دفینیک زمان نبود معطل آن گلونشنود از حکم جز امر کلواهم چو یغماجیست خانه می کندزود زود انبان خود پر می کنداندر انبان می فشارد نیک و بددانه های در و حبات نخودتا مبادا یاغیی آید دگرمی فشارد در جوال او خشک و تروقت تنگ و فرصت اندک او مخوفدر بغل زد هر چه زودتر بی وقوفلیک مؤمن ز اعتماد آن حیاتمی کند غارت به مهل و با انات روزی حضرت ابراهیم(ع) از کنار دریایی می گذشت. مرداری را دید که مقداری از آن داخل آب و مقداری در خشکی قرار داشت و پرندگان و حیوانات دریا و خشکی از دو سو آن را ط خود قرار داده اند و حتی گاهی بر سر آن با یکدیگر دعوا می د. دیدن این منظره، حضرت ابراهیم(ع) را به فکر کیفیت زنده شدن مردگان پس از مرگ انداخت. او فکر می کرد: اگر نظیر این حادثه برای جسد انسانی رخ دهد و بدن او جزء بدن جانداران دیگر شود، مسأله رستاخیز که باید با همین بدن جسمانی صورت گیرد، چگونه خواهد شد؟! در آیه ۲۶۰ سوره بقره آمده است: (به خاطر بیاور! هنگامی را که ابراهیم(ع) گفت: خدایا به من نشان ده، چگونه مردگان را زنده می کنی) خداوند فرمود: آیا ایمان نیاورده ای؟ او در جواب عرض کرد: آری، ایمان آورده ام ولی می خواهم قلبم آرامش یابد. خداوند به حضرت ابراهیم(ع) فرمود: حال که چنین است چهار نوع از مرغان را انتخاب کن! و آنها را ـ پس از ذبح ، قطعه قطعه کن! و در هم بیامیز! سپس بر هر کوهی قسمتی از آن را قرار بده! بعد آنها را بخوان! به سرعت به سوی تو می آیند و بدان خداوند توانا و حکیم است. ابراهیم(ع) این کار را کرد، و آنها را صدا زد، در این هنگام اجزای پراکنده هر یک از مرغان، جدا و جمع شده و به هم آمیختند و زندگی را از سر گرفتند.

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِیمِعُزیر نبی ( ع )چگونه مردگان زنده می شوند؟روزی عُزیر نبی ( ع ) که از ان مهم بنی است، و نسبش به بنیامین، فرزند حضرت یعقوب (علیه السلام) می رسد، با سبدی پر از انجیر و انگور بر الاغش سوار و به سوی شهر ویران شده بیت المقدس رهسپار شد. وقتی از تپه شهر بالا رفت و نگاهی به بدنهای بی جان مردگان افکند، با خود گفت: چگونه این سرزمین دوباره زنده و آباد می شود؟أَوْ کَالَّذِی مَرَّ عَلَى قَرْیَةٍ وَهِیَ خَاوِیَةٌ عَلَى عُرُوشِهَا قَالَ أَنَّىَ یُحْیِـی هَـَذِهِ اللّهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا فَأَمَاتَهُ اللّهُ مِئَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُ قَالَ کَمْ لَبِثْ ( سوره بقرة آیه 259 )خداوند او و مرکبش را می راند، و پس از صد سال، دوباره وی را برمی انگیزد/ و خداوند از او پرسید: چه مدت است که در اینجا درنگ کردی؟ او پاسخ داد: یک روز یا یک نیمه روز. خداوند وی را از آنچه گذشته بود، با خبر ساخت. آنگاه الاغش را در برابرش زنده کرد و انگورها و انجیرهایش را به همان ح تازه باز گرداند و عمرش را دراز کرد. بطوری که او سالها در شهر و دشت از میان مردم می گذشت.
